In the archives of Santa María, near Bayonne, two documents on the employment of the Basque language were found. One of them is a copy of a report of 1591 and it seems to have been copied in the 18th century. Its text is reproduced in the article. The other is also from the 18th century and it isa contract. In both documents the Basque language is used in part of the text
