Summary

The confraternity of Our Lady of Aranzazu, set up in Mexico City in 1681, is an institution that has grouped Basques and Navarrans, many of which were extraordinary people. The confraternity was also an identitary sign and a welfare institution. As a lay Brotherhood it created the famous Association of St Ignatius or of Biskaian women and was later the cornerstone for the dissemination ; of the Royal Basque Society of Friends of the Country.
