Summary
Manuel of Irujo - who lived in London during the Second World War - describes the efforts made up to the spring of 1943 to integrate the Basque community in exile into western co-operation organs. He studies the relations between the Basque National Council (established by Irujo himself in absence of Lehendakari Aguirre in July 1940) and General of Gaulle´s "Free France". He then attests to a little-known episode: the creation in Londonin 1942 of a Cultural Union of Western European Countries, in which the Basque Country participated as "a renascent nationality". Nineteen annexes complete and illustrate the text.Sing up and download the publications of Eusko Ikaskuntza
