Summary

Manuel of Irujo - who lived in London during the Second World War - describes the efforts made up to the spring of 1943 to integrate the Basque community in exile into western co-operation organs. He studies the relations between the Basque National Council (established by Irujo himself in absence of Lehendakari Aguirre in July 1940) and General of Gaulle´s "Free France". He then attests to a little-known episode: the creation in Londonin 1942 of a Cultural Union of Western European Countries, in which the Basque Country participated as "a renascent nationality". Nineteen annexes complete and illustrate the text.
