Summary

Companies in the society of knowledge will be radically different from current corporations. The main changes will be in the areas of the exercise of power and property and in the organisational model. The person, the worker of knowledge, will be the centre of the organisation. In connection with this organisation, there will be new self-reference entities (the teams and the Value-Generating Units) that will substitute stagnant departments and taylorist sections. This will demand a new social contract between worker and company and the development of mechanisms of membership participation for the workers.
