Summary

This work consists of two parts. In the first a close examination is made of the Basque and Navarran authors of the medieval era who preceded historian Esteban de Garibay in the art of writing history and who were also the source of his works. And in the second part the myths of the Basque statutory historiography are ; systematised, trying to establish how they emerged, what role the Basque and ; Navarran historians played in the gestation of such historiography and which was ; the position adopted by Esteban de Garibay on such historical legends.
