Summary

Within the complex global framework, the new Common Fisheries Policy requires fundamental reforms as regards the environment and conservation of marine resources. It is necessary to guarantee real compliance with the fishing agreements and the community regulations that affect the fisheries sector, with the aim of distinguishing fishing carried out using sustainable methods and equipment from that for which is carried out following an exclusively economic motive.
