Summary

In this paper, we will analyse the features of local environmentalist movements that are appearing all around the world; particularly, in the Basque Country. Although their political activity is based on denial, they however promote social innovation, encourage citizens to participate in the debates about important projects for the community, and affect the performance of all the administration levels. In short, their activity and demands help to improve the quality of democracy.
