Summary

The author wishes to analyse the historical roots of the political discourse of the "statutory theory", the key of which can already be distinguished in the works of Esteban de Garibay and Zamalloa, from Mondragón. More concretely, the author attempts to study the concept of universal nobility that defined the collective nobility of the people of Gipuzkoa. The author then seeks the constitutional origins that would explain its appearance and some of its contents.
