Summary

This work studies the characteristics of historically significant Law in the Basque Region and, in particular, its continental areas, which differ from Roman Law, such as absolute priority due to the indivisibility of the family patrimony (also known as biens avitins), the non-distinction of gender of the sole inheritor and the tradition of dowries and coseigneurie. Even in cases in which the terminology has adopted concepts from Roman Law- for example, "legitimacy" of successors, the rights involved are independent of Roman Law.
