A summarised autobiography of a teaching and research career in political and social philosophy, primarily concerned with the following three issues: research into contemporary philosophy (notably, the works on Hegel and Habermas); the attempt to create a political philosophy of the contemporary world; and, accompanying all of this, the continued reflection on the nature of philosophy as a profession in the modern world.
