Summary

The author introduces two popular songs in Basque collected by Lecuona. They are the "Doce palabras retorneadas" that was a very well-known song in Europe and in South America. He compares the lyrics of these songs with other from Burgos, Extremadura, Iparralde, etc. In one of the Basque songs there are thirteen questions, and this is similar in the versions from Burgos and in the official Judaic version. It is believed that the origin of the European versions would be: the Judaic version, the Islamic version through Spain and the Islamic through Greece. However, the author does not agree with these hypothesis
