Summary

In this article an analysis is made on how South Atlantic artisan fishing fleets are transformed as a result of the impact from political and economic dynamics at the macro level. Such a transformation is carried out to the point that the features that have been conventionally considered by ethnology as a characteristic of a social, cultural and productive artisan-fishing model has been considerably transformed, and thus the need for an approach that articulates global and local processes.
