Summary

The first part of my article briefly introduces the biographical profiles and the work of several Basque writers of nationalistic trends that have worked in American universities especially during the almost 40 years of Franquist dictatorship. The second part of this article analyses the culture exercised in exile by illustrious teachers who were born in the Basque Country and who opted for republicanism and not Basque nationalism. In this way, the study is a wider overview of Basque presence in American universities.
