Technological policies should have the objective of supporting corporate technological innovation in order to improve the corporate competitiveness and the support centres are the fundamental instrument of these policies. The role of Technological Centres or Institutes is emphasized as instruments of diffusion and transfer and the different types of existing centres in industrial countries are analyzed
