Summary

Throughout the Modern Age, violence was present in Biskaian society, and this also affected spaces of public sociability, like taverns and festivities. Trials on such brawls, originated by competition in card games or between youngsters from different villages or towns, also inform on the traditional forms employed by the Biskaians in their free time.
