Summary

This text analyses the configuration of regional innovation systems in the Basque Country and Navarre as from the results obtained in the project on Science, technology and innovation indicators: methodology and sources for the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarre [Buesa, Navarro et al., 2001]. In order to do so, the first part of the work shows, in a global manner, how the assignment of resources to R+D is and innovation activities by the various institutional and entrepreneurial agents, together with their results. There is also an analysis on the relation between both types of variables in comparative terms with other Autonomous Communities. In the second part, due to the crucial role played by the corporate world in the system, the main behavioural aspects of innovative companies are examined. A typology is then developed on the standards to which companies adjust their innovation strategies. The third part includes an analysis of the main aspects of the technological policy.
