As from 1934, Madeleine de Jauréguiberr y actively participated in the eskualerrista movement and in the monthly magazine Aintzina. She collaborated ; closely with father Pierre Laffite. She supported the Basque civil war refugees, a ; position that was somewhat uncomfortable in Iparralde, which was largely in ; favour of Franquism. She effectively defended the cause of these refugees ; especially before the French philosopher Jacques Maritain and Msgr. Mateo ; Múgica.
