Summary

This is a clinical review of the management of access for haemodialysis beginning with the care of intravenous catheters for haemodialysis, commenting on the attitude reference to the dialysis procedure, the recommendations to the patient and the importance of nursing in such cases. There are also comments on vascular access care from the early postoperative period, in maturation, and on the use of vascular access with the proper care before the puncture. There are also comments on the puncture itself and on handling during haemodialysis with an adequate blood flow and care by the patient during the inter­dialysis period.
