Summary
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a situation that has been observed with almost all diseases: the least advantaged people suffer a greater burden of disease. In this article, we outline a conceptual framework to understand these COVID-19 inequalities. Public health and medicine need to place equity as a fundamental pillar of their praxis. A fairer world will be a healthier world.
