Summary

In this paper, we aim to focus on penal mediation, taking into account the flaws in the criminal court system and the need to search for instruments or mechanisms that can help improve it as our starting point. After examining its origins, rationale and characteristics, we shall focus on the experience of the Penal Mediation Department in Barakaldo, which shows that this is a valid technique for improving the criminal process.
