Summary

There is a strong confrontation between those sectors in civil society that are particularly sensitive to environmental and ecological issues and the institutions. Such a situation demands novel processes of meetings, dialogue and consensus. Political confrontation in the Basque Country hinders the clarification and resolution of these conflicts. Disagreements between the institutions and civil society in environmental issues demand new proposals within a culture of dialogue, consensus and negotiation. It is also necessary, furthermore, to solve the confusing and equivocal interpretations in terms of Sustainable Development on by the "political corps" and, also, within the environmentalist and ecologist movement.
