Summary
Juan Ignacio Iztueta´s discourse about the guipuscoan dances should be analysed taking into account its social context. This way only can we acknowledge his intention and the particular historical context were it was written. To do so, we will focus on ten dancers mentioned in his book, members of the San Sebastian elites who were supposed to be responsible of the preservation of the tradition in 1824.
