Texts on cinema in the Basque Country began to be published towards theend of the 1920s, beginning with the publication of Film-makers and the Problem of Public Morality. These publications marked the birth of Basque literature on cinema, which was characterised during its early decades by a slow rate of development andthe leading role assumed by Bilbao.
