Summary

Dating methods based on natural radioactivity contribute to the elaboration of a chronostratographic framework in which the history of human evolution can be included. New technologies like mass spectrometrics and laser probes have allowed us to date certain important events that mark the history of mankind with a high degree of precision. Other methods like non-destructive gamma spectrometry or electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) allow us to date cases that could not be dated before. After a short presentation of the main dating methods, some examples will be given illustrating the impact of such new technologies in chronology.
