Summary

The abundance and distribution of polynic sequences originating from peaty or lacustrine deposits for the last 15,000 BP in the Cantabric-Atlantic territories of the Iberian Peninsula allow for a correct evaluation of the modifications of vegetation that occurred during this period in the various biogeographic units. However, paleoclimatic and paleoland scape information for earlier periods, and concretely for the last glacial cycle, largely corresponds to studies carried out in deposits from the Krasticperiod. This work contains new information on climatic and landscape dynamics in the coastal and subcoastal area for the last 100,000 years. The sequence obtained from palinological, chronological and sedimentological analyses of fossilised limnetic deposits clearly differs from the representations outlined up to the present in north-western Iberia.
