Summary

The organographic aspects of Rioja folklore have hardly been reflected in the studies publised so far. The present study collects different varieties of traditional orchestra groups in this part of the Ebro area. The materials have been obtained through field work carried out during several consecutive years in the nineteen eighties. However, it collects information about bands existing at the end of the last century and now disappeared. Twenty-two different modalities have been assembled in an open list that should be completed in the future as new pieces of information appear. The orchestral structures, classified according to the method of C. Sachs, are accompanied by different linds of information, such as the function each of them perform, the field of interpretation and the geographical area covered by each model.
