Summary

This presentation aims at providing an overview of renaissance architecture in the Basque Country.This rich field is far from homogeneus, and, on the contrary, presents different nuances which sometimes stem from the complex geography of the country. But there are also unifying factors, such as the presence of specialized workers, the so-called"canteros vizcaínos" (byzcayne stonemasons). These spread throughout the iberian peninsula some proposals deeply rooted in their usual practice and which initially originate in Castille.
