Summary

In this work the author discusses some methodological aspects about the linguistic ascription of direct or indirect ancient data, as well as aspects related to their absolute or relative dating asrefers to the history and prehistory of the Basque language. The data from the antiquity are discussed to obtain the earliest chronological horizon, on which to initiate a process of prehistoric reconstruction. Modern comparative proposals are criticised (of Basque with Iberian and especially with the Na-Dene Caucasian group) from a methodological point of view.
