Summary

The landscape is a resource and an environmental, cultural and social heritage that is also derived from our economic development, and it is an essential component of the quality of life. Basque public administrations therefore must care for landscape protection, management and planning within the framework of sustainable development. An analysis is made of the lines of work, commitments, progress and challenges in this field, from the point of view of the Basque Government Department of the Environment and Land Planning.
