Summary

This article aims to analyze the place of both language and literature and Basque culture in the stories in Spanish literature written during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, at a time when national identities were being formed and defined. In this article, the layout of the different identities existing in the Iberian Peninsula is also questioned.
