Summary

Ricardo de Apraiz shares with us a finding made during some restoration work in the parochial church of Casacajosa (province of Soria). A wooden musical instrument was found that had three holes laid out in an identical manner to the current Basque txistu. It was found lying near a coin of Phillip IV dated 1667. This means that there was in that province an instrument of popular music that was played with the left hand in the 17th century, like the current Basque txistus.
