Summary

The purpose of this paper comes out from the interest arosen by the iconographic scenes present at the lintel of the main front in St. María of Olite. The reiteration with which some of these themes are shown in the margins of the late XIIIth and beginning of XIVth century manuscripts (chronology of this main front) raised a relation. This relation has to do whith that world parallel to the religious one, whose spirit being satiric, didatic or just a burlesque wink to the spectator finds in the medieval mentality an inexhaustible source of beings, facts and real or insolit situations such as the ones represented in this lintel
