Summary

The author carries out a chronological analysis of the biography of the main Basque urologists. Among them, some of the most noteworthy are, from Gipuzkoa, Dr. Benigno Oreja, the first great Basque urologist of national and international recognition and, from Bizkaia, Dr. Pérez Andrés, first Director of Urology in Basurto Hospital, in 1919, and Dr. Guimón, Professor of Urology in the Basque University in 1936. The current Basque Public University (EHU/UPV) named him .Honorary Professor. during the 1977-78 course. This work is completed with the main urologists from Navarre and Alava.
