Summary

Together to the Humboldt´s known facets as founder of the university of Berlin, as politician, author, translator, etc., it has to be pointed out his great contribution to the linguistics. His contribution can be summarized in three key ideas: the consideration of each language as a linguistic cosmo-view, the consideration of the language as energy and the concept of the internal structure of the language. In this way, Humboldt became the first thinker who laid global foundations to the linguistics.
