This meeting, which will be held on July 2 at the Cit des Arts in Baiona, offers an opportunity to combine perspectives from both sides of the border.
This Cross-Border Summer Course will feature professors, researchers, and interdisciplinary students from the Basque Country's universities who have formed part of this project's working team. Along with them, we will have experts, writers, and professionals who will provide us with their perspectives and knowledge of the Basque Country.
The program on July 2 will be varied: talks, round tables, interviews and a workshop, all of them on the challenges of Basque identity and future opportunities. In the course there will be, in alphabetical order, Igor Ahedo, Itxaro Borda, Elena Casiriain, Paxkal Indo, Carmen Innerarity, Olatz Elexpuru, Jone Goirigolzarri, Francis Jaureguiberry, Patxi Juaristi, Iñaki Marko, Ana Urkiza and Iñaki Zaldua.
With lectures in Basque, French, and Spanish, key issues will be addressed: the diversity of the Basque identity, the role of Basque in community building, and the challenges facing identity. There will also be an opportunity for personal and collective reflection on how to live Basque identity naturally and without tension in a planned workshop. The contributions collected at the workshop, which will be held in collaboration with the Iparralde Development Council, will be used for the " Iparralde 2040 " project.
This course is open to all those who wish to participate in collective reflection to build the future of Basque identity. Information and the program for the Cross-Border Summer Course are available on the UIK website . You can also watch the Solasaldi discussion about the project and the course with two of its participants (Elena Casiriain and Iñaki Zaldua) here .
