As every year, Eusko Ikaskuntza and the city of Baiona will jointly present three awards to outstanding cultural and research agents. The event will take place at 18:30 in the assembly hall of Baiona City Hall.
Every year, Eusko Ikaskuntza and the Baiona City Council present a series of awards to recognise the research and creation work of any department related to Baiona, Iparralde or Euskal Herria.
The honorary award pays tribute to a person or group that throughout their life has participated in the defense and knowledge of the Basque language or the Basque culture. In this edition, the award has been given to Xipri Arbelbide, member, writer, radio host and Basque reference agent, for the fruitful career he has accumulated.
The Basque culture award is awarded to unpublished research works or doctoral theses related to the Basque Country. Pauline Guelle has been awarded on this occasion with the thesis: L%u2019impunit de la torture dans la consolidation d mocratique espagnole: le cas du Pays basque (The impunity of torture in the Spanish democratic consolidation: the case of the Basque Country).
The Vdeo-Documentary Award recognises amateur creators who focus on Euskal Herria, the Basque language and Basque culture as a theme. In this case, Lucia Barahona has won the award for her documentary Bizi naizeno je danserai la vie (While I live, dance life).
