Summary

The history of medieval Basque towns, even when it is presented to us as a topic often worked upon by historians, still offers us a wide field for historiographic reflection and discussion. The commentary on the foundation of Mondragón and the dissemination of its jurisdiction, has been the pretext to approach another two apparently elemental problems, like the range of towns and the periodification of the urbanisation process of the Basque Country, which is still an object of discussion.
