Summary

The causes of degradation of filed materials are internal (characteristicsof the paper) and external (which, in turn, are divides into biotical and abiotical). The biotical causes are conformed by microorganisms, mildews, insects and vertebrates. Abiotical causes are phisiochemical in nature, such as dampness, temperature, light, vibrations, atmospherical and accidental pollution such as fire, water and transfers. Ideal climatic conditions for conservation are a stable relative humidity, clean non stagnant air, a stable temperature and incandescent artificial light when the material is illuminated, otherwise darkness
