Summary

Wine was considered to be a curative remedy in medieval medicine and as such is documented in numerous treaties. The liquor that was extracted from the distillation of wine was particularly valued for its therapeutic virtues. In this work, the main applications of wine in this respect are compiled as they are set forth in the Guillem de Mallorca manuscript that is preserved in the Faculty of Medicine in Montpellier (ca. 1470), as well as some spells and a glossary of plants, resins and other ingredients taken from various manuscript sources from the 13th to the 15th centuries.
