Summary

It can be maintained that in the last decade, within the context of the new family reality, the issue of adopting the children of one´s spouse or partner has become too important. Regardless of the circumstances affecting different families (conjugal families, non-conjugal families, single-parent families, united families), the Civil Code provides a unified and single system, which exposes the ineffectiveness of this type of adoption. This article invites the reader to reflect on this situation. A reflection on the main problems is made and a general outline of the new proposals presented.
