Summary

Some rules favour placing crucifixes on the walls of Italian state schools. From the educational point of view, is this compatible with the rights of parents and pupils? And with the neutrality and impartiality of the State? What´s the meaning of the cross? How does it affect pupils? Is it all about indoctrinating them? The European Court of Human Rights issued two sentences on Lautsi´s dispute, giving two models to encompass secularism and the presence of religious symbols.
