Summary

This work analyses the controversial qualification as State aid of public compensations to companies that ensure the provision of services qualified as of General Economic Interest. Throughout this paper, basic concepts are clarified and a panorama is offered of the jurisprudence in the matter, up to the most recent sentences on the matter, dated December 2010. All such sentences, with certain particular characteristics, confirm the solidity of a jurisprudence that finally provides a solution for an intensively debated matter.
