Summary

In the "Third part of the tragicomedy of the Celestina, first printed in 1536, there is a song in Basque that was uncovered by Menéndez y Pelayo and described in his work "The Origins of the Novel". There is a transcription of the song, which is then analysed and translated into Spanish. This song it is called Song of the Cantabrians or Song of Lelo due to the refrain with which it begins, although the beginning of the song itself refers to the struggle of a Basque chieftain against the Romans, and the second part has nothing to do with this
