Summary
The Old Town of Donostia in the middle of the century was inhabited by people with limited resources who formed a neighborhood network always ready to lend a hand. The neighborhood was a large family that took care of sick people, that there was no shortage of food, of dividing the work and also of celebrating. This is confirmed by the testimonies of Jesus Igareta, Fani Igareta, Mari Carmen García de la Yedra and María Pilar García de la Yedra. Their stories allow portraying the concept of neighborhood: sharing and offering help to others unconditionally. In addition, certain trades of the time are reflected, many of which do not exist today. The festive and celebratory nature of the mid-twentieth century and the resources that children and young people had to have fun are also collected.
