Summary

This paper explores the relationship between city, collective creativity and multiculturalism from an ethnography of Madrid neighborhood of Lavapies. We analyze how a particular network of relationships and shared cultural forms "makes room" in the exercise of the everyday practices of inhabiting the neighborhood. What local senses acquire figures of "creativity" and "multiculturalism" and how differentiate Lavapies, as a specific place in the socio-spatial structure of the city of Madrid?
