Summary

This article analyzes the work of Joseba Sarrionandia and, especially, his essay entitled Moroak gara behelaino artean? (Are We Moors in the Fog?) (2010), in light of the changes brought about by globalization and by the neoliberal culture to Basque literature. After analyzing the globalization of Anglo-Saxon literature (Morrison, Rusdie, Rowling, D. Brown), the paper presents the "othering" ("bestetzea") of Basque literature as the main result of globalization (Atxaga, Uribe; The Other as canon). The article concludes by arguing that Sarrionandia avoids globalization´s demand of othering in his work. In his latest book, Are We Moors in the Fog? (2010), he proposes an alternative: a critical, radical multiculturalism, which goes against Zizek and Galfarsoro´s thesis.
