Summary

There are in La Rioja two examples of sculpture, dated at the end of XII century, that show the iconographic subjects of Anuntiation, Coronation and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. They are, therefore, earlier than the first pattern described in Alava, dated at beginning of XII century. The examples of La Rioja are located in the imperial Church of Santa María de Palacio, in Logroño, and in the Cathedral of El Salvador, in Santo Domingo de la Calzada ; whereas the pattern in Alava is situated in the Church of San Juan Bautista, in Laguardia. This paper provide an iconographic development of subjects mentioned before and relates them whit other contemporary sculptures
