Summary

It has been considered that the mistakes in Spanish that appear in the "Diary" of San Ignatius are due to the fact that his mother tongue was Basque. These mistakes do not only originate from the Basque language, but also expressions from Latin, Italian, etc. The author attempts to clarify the words or expressions that carry a Basque character like as the ellipsis, the quantity of gerunds and infinitives used, the omission of the article, etc. The author presents some phrases with a clear Basque origin
