The main objective of this article is to show the content of a relatively recent publication on the ample issue on "language and identity", that offers a summary of a series of publications by language sociologist and socio-linguist J. A. Fishman in this regard. In the final reflections the intention is to emphasise the importance of the contributions by this author.
