Summary

Medieval Navarran onomastics constitute one of the most important sources for the knowledge of Basque lexicon before the 16th century. Because of this, this document dated 1283 from the diplomatic Collection of Irache has been chosen. It is a list of taxpayers of Cirauqui dependent on the Monastery of Irache. From its examination it is possible to deduce that the system employed for the denomination of people in Val Mañeru in the 13th century is predominantly Basque, ; and the use of the Romanic system in common with the rest of the peninsular ; dominion is also perceptible. The names of the taxpayers of Cirauqui shows us ; the use of a double Basque, Romanic linguistic code, proof of a secular bilingualism of the inhabitants of the middle Navarran area.
